Our Story

Here is the story of how Rebekah and I came to be a part of this great adventure...
Back in April, our friends Danny and Lizanne Crocker announced that they were going to be moving from Texas to Georgia to be part of a church plant. (For reference, Danny married me and Rebekah, and Frank played the piano in our wedding) When Danny and Lizanne made their anouncement, Rebekah jokingly said, "Hey, wouldn't it be great to go to Georgia and help them with the church?" I was "Yeah. That'd be fun." Well for the next five weeks, we didn't say another word about it. One night at dinner, Rebekah said "Hey, remember that time I made the joke about moving to Georgia? Well I was kind of serious. I've been thinking about it non-stop since." I was like "Really? 'Cause I have been to." It had been on the forefront of my mind for the past five weeks. Whenever my mind would wander or I would shut my brain off, it would go to Georgia and us being there. After talking some more, we spent some time in prayer. We talked with Danny and Frank and told them our story. The general consensus was "When God tells you to go to Nineveh, you don't not go to Nineveh." It was obvious to us that God was telling us to go somewhere, to do something. Whether to Georgia or around the world or right here at home in Tuscaloosa, God was sending us somewhere.
We spent the next several weeks in prayer with our awesome Mission Prayer Team that we put together. We prayed specifically for a clear vision from God on what his path was for us. We went to visit with the Crockers and Bennetts in July. During that trip, it became very clear what God had for us and where He was sending us. During that trip, we spent time specifically praying that God would show us how He would take care of us and asking for specific signs that this is where we belong. Everything that we prayed for was answered and then some. At one point, I believe that God was just showing off. One morning, I prayed that God would show me that day how He would provide for my family. Well, He did and then some. Three times that day, people stopped by just to drop food and clothes off to our hosts. Also, that same day, God showed me that He will provide finances from some unlikely places.
After that trip, it was confirmed that we would be leaving our life here in Tuscaloosa, AL and starting our own adventure in Cartersville, GA. We know that this is what God has for us, because the great deceiver himself has been trying his hardest to discourage us and distract us from the fact that God is going to provide for everything that we need, maybe not what we want, but always what we need.
Our timeline right now is to move sometime in mid to late December. Once there, I will be working with the students and sports for Lake Point Church. We are super excited to get started. Rebekah and I will be leaving a life that we've built here in Tuscaloosa. The only life that our two girls have known. But we know that God has great things in store for us and all of Lake Point.
