Bartow County

I mentioned in my last post that I'd be back Monday with a little update on how God is moving in Bartow County.  Well, I almost made it...it is Tuesday.  I tried =)

Patrick and I were blessed last week to attend the Cartersville/Bartow County Chamber of Commerce annual banquet.  Lake Point Church was generously donated a table and we were thrilled to be invited to attend.  We went into the evening not really knowing what to expect.  The keynote speaker was Tedd Gongwer, author of "Lead...for God's Sake!" I have not yet read his book but I really want to.  His speech was very inspiring and encouraging.  The music guest was Lee Greenwood and he put on an excellent show!  We thoroughly enjoyed it.

I left the banquet completely amazed by how Christ-centered the whole evening was.  This was a political event, people.  Nearly every person who spoke, presented an award, accepted an award, etc gave praise to Jesus Christ.  Last years Chairman talked about how God is working in Bartow County because His people are allowing Him to do so.  The future Lake Point Sports complex is a huge thing for Bartow County.  The people of Bartow County are going to benefit hugely from it.  So many people acknowledge that Lake Point Sports is a huge God-thing and I believe that because they are seeing it as such, God is continuing to bless it and to bless the community.

There are many other ways that God is moving here and Patrick and I just cannot wait to continue to get involved in the community.  We feel so blessed that God has landed us smack dab in the middle of it and that we get to witness it all firsthand and be a part of it.  Sometimes I still ask God "Why did you choose us to get to be here???"  I just still cannot believe it sometimes and I am so very thankful that we are here.
