Our Girls' "People"

Today we had Delilah and Penny's birthday party. It was SO much fun. I was worried about how many people would come, if there would be many kids there, what the weather was going to do...on and on. It was one of the best parties we have had, yet! I think we had about 50 people there! (Of course, half of them were Crocker's or Bennett's...)

I know a lot of people don't understand having big parties for little kids but one of the biggest reasons I have continued to throw such "big" parties is to celebrate the people who love our girls, as much as it is to celebrate our girls. Today I referred to them as our girls "people", because that's what they are! I truly believe "it takes a village" and we are certainly blessed with a large village. We have lived here for 8 months and had almost 50 people at our party...people who love our girls, are showing them the love of God, are teaching them about Jesus, and who I know are there for them for whatever they may need. It is such a blessing to have such a big support group! There are people who have become like family, people who are new friends but who I know God has carefully placed in our life at a time when we need that kind of friend, and a church family who we love so much. I'll say it again...we are so blessed!

I will admit, the past 8 months have not always been easy. We have struggled financially, we have been stressed out, we have missed our friends in Tuscaloosa (and cried over Delilah missing her friends there), and we have been frustrated over all the newness and change that we are still getting used to. But today I was reminded that God is in this. We are where we are supposed to be. And I wouldn't change a thing.
